Loose Minerals and Pregnant Cow - Homesteading Forum
In many areas of the country (I have no idea where you are) selenium is deficient. Calving troubles increase and the survivability of the calf is lowered when the cow doesn't have enough Selenium. It needs Vit E to be properly absorbed. The better mineral blocks have Selenium, the cheap ones don't. Make sure your loose mineral has selenium. Bo-se - Homesteading Forum
Bo-Se is a vitamin/mineral supplement. Selenium w/ Vitamin E. The Vitamin E makes the selenium more bioavailable than straight selenium (think, synergistic) and it also buffers the selenium, so you really can't hurt the goat if they get too much, the way you can kill a goat with straight selenium. It is a vet prescription item. And, the expiration date is more of a "suggestion" and CYA for the ...

BoSe vs Selenium-E gel - Homesteading Forum
What selenium is in your soil is a moot point unless you are growing your own hay and grain, or at least 80% of their diet is coming from the soil in your farm.
