We have a whole house Generac unit. During home construction, I had the electricians install an automatic transfer panel, and I added the 22kw unit myself a year later. Works well. The maintenance and monitoring is done by the Generator Superstore folks in Okc. They seem to know what they're doing. However, they did not do my installation.
Have a question on the best motor oil to use for a portable generator. This is my backup as I have a whole house 22KW Generac that does is quite well but ya...
Slugslinger, I may not be a kohler generator mechanic, but I have 4 years experience working on military generator sets and have also worked on civilian backup generac sets when I worked as an electrician.
I learn’t me somethin’ about my Generac ATS this past week that could have been a bit costly. It was around 4:00pm and out of the blue my generator kicked on so I’m, as usual, feeling pretty cocky being the only guy in the neighborhood with a generator and power when everyone else is in the...
After the latest ice storm in Oklahoma and power loss for 4 plus days, I ran my two generators on gasoline off and on keeping the freezer and refrigerator going to prevent the loss of food, I decide dot convert my generators to natural gas.(Tri-fuel). The will now run on gasoline, natural gas...
Gas-fired boilers were used for heating the fuel oil, and gas-fired radiators were used to heat the building. The switchboard was centrally located on the south side of the engine room, near the generators. This plant contained the largest group of Nordberg diesel engines in the world. Nordberg ended diesel engine production in the mid-1960s.
Picked up a 4000 watt dual fuel inverter generator.. Opting to run on propane because it doesn’t go bad like gasoline can and it’s not as messy. The generator will be used fo power loss purposes only. I’m having an electrician install a single outlet with waterproof box outside that will be on...
Just installed this interlock kit on the panel. No more bothering with switches and extension cords. It was honestly way easier than I thought. I went with a full on transfer switch at my last house but after selling it and having to leave behind the whole generator setup. I wanted something...
I've been deep in the neutral/ground rabbit hole lately in regards to home generators. What I've learned, my arm chair/youtube opinion is: There should only be one place in a system where the ground and neutral are bonded (connected); this should be the point of first disconnect, usually the main panel like you described.
